The benefits of offering childcare vouchers to staff

Recruiting and retaining the quality of staff that your organisation needs to work effectively is an expensive business

Offering valued employees help with their childcare costs means staff stay with the company and are more likely to return to work after maternity and paternity leave. The childcare voucher scheme does not cost the company anything to set up, and it even saves the company up to £227 per employee per annum in NI payments.

Employees can claim up to £243 per month as a voucher.

The company then would normally reduce their gross salary by the value of the voucher using a deduction before Tax and NI is applied. This means that a 20% tax payer can save up to £903.96 per year and a 40% tax payer up to £1195.56 on their childcare cost.
